About the University
The University of Southampton is a city university with 6 campuses in total. Apart from the university’s art and design school, Winchester campus, all other campuses are in Southampton. The main campus of the university is the Highfield campus, located in an inner-city district. The main campus has well-equipped teaching facilities and services. Avenue campus, close to Highfield, is the home of the Humanities and Science studies. Southampton National Oceanographic Centre, located in the southern part of the city, has been named among the world’s leading water and landscape studies.
The new technologies that Southampton has developed for performance sports for more than 50 years have contributed greatly to the university’s success in research. Working in partnership with UK Sport since 2005, Southampton played an active role in the performance development of athletes who won 16 of the 20 gold medals won by the UK in the Olympics held in Beijing and Vancouver.
