Queen Mary, University of London
Part of the federated structure of the University of London, among many other prestigious UK universities, Queen Mary consists of several campuses located east of central London. Students who have completed their undergraduate and postgraduate studies at Queen Mary receive a University of London diploma, similar to some of the world’s leading educational institutions such as UCL and LSE.
About the University
Queen Mary, founded in 1836, currently has 31,000 students. There are 3 main faculties at the university, where old and modern buildings are intertwined in terms of architecture: Humanities / Social Sciences and Law, Science and Engineering, Medicine and Dentistry. The Law department of the university, with its international students from more than 100 different countries, is very strong in its field. The fact that its graduates are among the highest paid employees in their sector plays a major role in the school being preferred by both British and international students. It was named the 13th best University in the UK in the 2014-2015 THE World University Rankings, with Economics, Law, Physics, Mathematics, Engineering, Dentistry, English Literature, History, Modern Languages, Linguistics and Geography among the departments that received 5 out of 5 in research rankings.
Queen Mary also offers academic and subject-based preparatory programs for students who want to start undergraduate and graduate programs.
Queen Mary has a significant advantage with its location between Liverpool Street -London’s financial center- and Docklands. Apart from the education buildings, the main campus in Mile End includes student dormitories, banks, health and sports centres. Many international students have the opportunity to work part-time on campus throughout their studies. Additionally, the school’s newly built and largely invested Student Village has modern dormitory facilities (it won the Housing Design Award in 2005). The new dormitories, offering private bathroom accommodation, include facilities such as laundry and internet connection. The student union on campus organizes numerous social activity programs for all university students throughout the year.
